거지딸기(장미과 산딸기속) 열매

수목원 관리를 하는 연구원인지 남오미자 덩굴을 찾는 내 가까이 차를 멈춘다.

남오미자를 찾느라고 한참 숲에 시선을 주다가 돌아보니 산딸기 종류에 엉겨 붙은 칡덩굴을 제거하고 있다.

 

검은 가시가 유난스런 녀석이라 무슨 딸기냐고 물어보니 거지딸기란다.

오잉? 거지딸기라고라? 그 연구사도 이 곳에 거지딸기가 있는 줄 몰랐는데 지나가다가 보고 차를 세웠단다.

제주도 숲에도 드물게 자란다는 녀석이 완도에서 이렇게 쉽게 만나다니....대박이다!!.

 

일본에서는 "코지키이치고"  " コジキイチゴ " (乞食苺 걸식매)란 이름을 갖지고 있는데 거지가 먹는 나무딸기란 의미이다.

이 녀석의 열매는겉만 번지르르하고  속이 비어 있어서 실속이 없는데 그게 거지들이 먹는 열매라는 의미일 수도 있고. 갈라진 모습이 거지들의 동냥 그릇 모양을 띠고 있어서 그런 이름을 붙였다는 설도 있는데 우리나라에서 국명을 붙일 때 일본명을 차용하여 거지딸기라고 한 것 같다. 

 

히말라야. 한국, 일본, 말레이시야 까지 분포한다.

 

 

열매는 타원형으로 원추상을 이루고 있다.

 

맹아 줄기가 기세 좋게 서 있다.

검은딸기에 비하여 검은 샘털이 3~5mm로 길고 꽃이 훨씬 작으며 주걱형이고 소형이다.

 

 원추상 꽃차례로 꽃잎은 주걱형으로 꽃받침 열편 보다 더 짧다.

열매가 긴 타원형으로 황색으로 익는다.

 

 

 

 

열매가 달린 가지의 잎은 대체로 3~7개였는데 맹아 줄기의 잎은 7~11개로 많았다.

 

 

 

이 녀석 잎 중축과 잎 중심 맥에 고부라진 가시는 가히 위협적이다

소맷자락과 장갑이 걸려서 빠져나오는데 진땀을 흘렸다.

 

 

맹아줄기가 직립하여 자라고 있다. 검은 가시와 긴 샘털이 유난스럽다.

검은딸기에 비하여 검은 샘털이 3~5mm로 길다.
