이 녀석을 거제딸기라 하는 견해, 맥도딸기라 하는 견해, 또는 섬딸기의 변이 폭에 포함시키는 견해도 있다.

줄기에 연모 유무에 따라 섬딸기와 거제, 맥도를 구분하고 있다.

이 녀석들은 줄기에 가시가 많았으며 털은 거의 보이지 않고 잎도 작고 옆맥이 자잘한 편이었다.
이상태의 검색표로 보면 줄기에 가시가 있으니 맥도로 봐야겠고
줄기의 연모를 기준으로 볼 때 일견 거제나 맥도에 가깝다고 할 수 있는데....
세 종류 모두 분포지가 같고 꽃 잎, 줄기 분류 형질에서도 연속적인 변이를 보인다 하므로 모두 섬딸기로 보는 견해를 적용한다.
