거제도에 자생하는 섬딸기를 거제딸기, 맥도딸기로 구분하여 분류하기도 하지만
지금은 섬딸기로 통합하여 보는 견해가 우세하다.
헌데 2015년에 이 곳에 단풍딸기와 긴잎단풍딸기가 있다는 논문이 발표가 되었다.
논문에 제시된 그림을 보면 아래 녀석은 단풍딸기에 근접한다.

| 안면도와 거제도에서 한반도 미기록식물인 장미과 산딸기속의 Rubus palmatus Thunb. var. palmatus 을 발견하였고, 긴잎단풍딸기로 국명을 새롭게 부여하였다. 단풍딸기(R. palmatus var. coptophyllus (A. Gray)Kuntze)와는 잎이 3개로 갈라지거나 혹은 거의 갈라지지 않는 특징으로 구별된다. 또한 한반도 분포가 확인된 바 없는 단풍딸기의 거제도 분포를 처음으로 보고하였다. 마지막으로UPS에 소장된 Thunberg의 표본(UPS-THUNB. 12282)을 선정기준표본으로 지정하였다. |
섬을 돌다가 아무데나 차를 세우고 소로 주변을 뒤지다가 만난 녀석이다.
잎이 깊게 3~5갈래로 갈라지고 열편은 좁고 길며 거치가 크고 강한 특징이 있다.
잎자루에 밀모와 고부라진 가시가 듬성 듬성 달려 있다
섬나무딸기는 줄기에 가시가 거의 없는데 이 녀석은 줄기에 가시가 많이 달려 있다.
