섬딸기(장미과)

이 녀석 보자고 왕복 천리길을 새벽을 도와서 다녀왔던 게다.

섬딸기는 남해안 지역과 도서 지역에 서식을 하는 딸기 종으로 가시가 별로 없고

꽃이 무척 크며 아래로 늘어져 매달려서 피는 게 특징이다.

 

섬딸기의 변종으로 맥도딸기와 거제딸기가 있는데 학자들에 따라

두 녀석의 분포 지역이 섬딸기와 중첩되고 꽃, 잎, 줄기의 분류형질에서도 연속적인 변이를 보이기 때문에

섬딸기와 같은 종으로 보는 견해도 있다.

우리 같은 아마추어들이야 구분하기도 어려운 녀석들을 함께 묶어 불러주는 것을 환영한다.

 

이상태의 산딸기속 검색표 일부를 보면 아래와 같다.

위의 검색표를 기준으로 봤을 때 이 곳의 섬딸기는 줄기에 가시가 있는 맥도딸기로 봐야 한다

 

아래의 또 다른 정보에 의하면 섬딸기나 맥도딸기, 거제딸기 모두 가시가 없으며

줄기에 연모 유무에 따라 섬딸기와 거제, 맥도를 구분하고 있다.

아무튼 내 아직 세 녀석을 명확하게 구분 할 자신이 없어 일단 모두 섬딸기로 정리를 한다

이 녀석은 줄기에 가시는 드물게 보이지만 연모는 없는 듯하다
