생강나무(녹나무과) 암꽃 수꽃 Lindera obtusiloba Blume

골짝으로 올라 가는 등산로 길에 생강나무 노란 꽃이 갈색톤의 숲에서 유난히 도드라진다.

지난 해에 왔을 때는 생강나무 꽃이 거의 사그러지는 중이 었는데 지금이 한창 적기이다.

 

생강나무는 암수딴그루이다. 수술이 가득한 수그루는 꽃이 풍성해 보이고,

암술만 길게 뻗은 암술과 헛수술로 이루어진 암꽃이 핀 암그루는 꽃가지가 가난해 보인다.

두개의 꽃가지를 가까이 대어 비교해 보았다.

 

이 녀석들도 남아선호사상이 있는 걸까? 

암수딴그루 나무들을 보면 암그루보다 수그루가 더 많고 꽃도 더 풍성하다. 대부분의 나무들이 수그루이다.

자손을 많이 퍼뜨리려 꽃가루를 무자비하게 날리는 욕심은 사람이나 식물이나 같은 모양이다.

수꽃이다. 화경이 거의 없는 수꽃이 여러송이 뭉치듯이 피어 있고 노란 수술이 풍성하다.

 

 

 

 

 

암꽃이다.  암그루는 드물게 보인다. 수술은 있으나 헛수술로 제 구실은 하지 못하고 암술이 길게 뻗어나 있다.

그래서 꽃술이 풍성한 수그루보다 꽃차례가 왜소해 보인다. 꽃이 신통치 않게 핀 녀석을 잡으면 100% 암그루이다.
