개회된 모습을 제대로 본 적이 없어서 올해는 시기를 놓지지 않으려고 벼르고 있었다.
지금 쯤 피지 않았을까 싶어서 이른 아침부터 1km 넘는 둘레길을 걸었다.
오늘 들러야 할 곳이 몇 군데 되어서 일찍부터 서둘렀는데
초입의 감태나무 상태는 마악 동아가 인피를 뚫고 새순을 내밀고 있는 중이라....
아직도 이파리를 떠나보내지 못한 이 녀석은 떨켜의 구실이 신통하지 않단다.
아직은 이르겠구나 하며 동아 싹을 촬영하는데
웃기는 것은 동아가 터지고 있는 새순 기부에 암술대를 내밀고 있는 꽃이
인피 사이에 끼어서 낑낑 거리며 안간힘을 쓰고 있지 않은가?
그 녀석 세상 밖으로 나오느라고 고생이 많다.
혹시나 더 성질 급한 녀석 있지 않을까 싶어서
개화 절정인 잔털벚나무와 벚나무를 촬영하며 계속 전진을 했더니
잔 가지가 많이 발생한 한 녀석이 새순 기부에 거의 모두 꽃을 내밀었다.
아직 개화 초기라서 화피편이 거의 벌어지지 않아서 선체도 화피편에 싸여서 잘 보이지 않는다.
하기사 워낙 꽃이 작으니 화피편이 벌어져도 헛수술은 보기 어렵다.
감태나무와 뇌성목의 꽃이 암꽃이라는 녀석은 분명한데,
수꽃의 역할을 하는 수꽃의 정체는 우리 나라에서는 확인된 바가 없다.
자방을 가진 이 암꽃은 3개의 수술 양쪽으로 2개씩 3쌍의 선체가 있고, 그 바깥쪽으로 6개의 수술이 있는데
이 9개의 수술은 꽃밥을 가지지 않아서 꽃가루를 생산하지 못하는 헛수술이다.
사진에 보이는 수술대 끝에 꽃밥주머니가 없다.
그러면 꽃가루를 날려주는 수술을 가진 수꽃이 분명 있어야 하는데 어디서도 그 꽃은 발견되지 않았으니
가루받이 없이 열매가 성숙하는 그런 경우가 되어 버린 것이다.
정자 없이 임신이 될 수도 있을까?
암꽃은 어디서도 수꽃 꽃가루를 받을 수 없으니 스스로 이를 해결하는 능력을 만든 것일까?
4~5일 후 다시 한 번 더 들러서 수술의 모습이 확인이 될 수 있도록 촬영해 봐야겠다
