해홍나물(명아주과 나문재속) 꽃 Suaeda maritima (L.) Dumort.

염생식물 나문재속 중에서 꽃과 열매가 가장 자잘한 녀석일 것이다.

가지가 많이 갈라지고 화서가 나올 때 쯤 가지 끝이 아래로 숙여지는 모습이 나타난다.

 

나문재, 칠면초와 같이 줄기가 곧추 자라지만, 칠면초는 가지가 중간쯤 올라와서 갈라지는 데 비해 해홍나물은 지면 가까이에서부터 갈라지는 차이가 있다. 특히 잎 모양에서 칠면초는 변이가 심하지만 대체적으로 곤봉 모양인 데 비해 해홍나물은 끝부터 기부까지 폭과 두께가 비슷한 긴 원통형이다.  생태적으로는 저위 염습지에 많은 개체수가 조밀하게 단일군락을 형성하여 자란다. 보통 칠면초나 퉁퉁마디의 배후군락으로 해안이나 강 하구의 기수 지역에 넓게 분포하며 칠면초보다는 육지와 접한 지역에 분포한다. 칠면초보다 침수가 덜 되고 배수가 잘되는 모래가 섞인 펄이나 건조한 폐염전에서도 관찰할 수 있다 -한반도생물다양성 포털 펌-

 잎은 하나씩 어긋나며 얇고 긴 통 모양이고 단면은 반원형이다

줄기 아래서부터 가지가 많이 갈라진다
