무등취(국화과 취나물속) Saussurea nipponica Miq. subsp. higomontana (Honda) H.T.Im

무등취는 무등산에서 처음 발견이되어서 이름을 얻은 종이다.

그런데 역시 이 녀석도 강원도 큰산 능선부 숲에서는 여기 저기 자라고 있는 전국구이다.

 

잎이 사창분취처럼 매우 크고 두터우며 양면에 부드러운 털이 밀생하고 잎자루에 얕은 날개가 있다.

줄기에도 잎자루 기부에서 줄기로 흘러내리는 얕은 날개가 있다.

개체에 따라 당분취처럼 날개가 크게 발달하는 경우도 있고 능각처럼 흔적적인 경우도 있다.

 

몇 년 전 5월에 이 녀석 잎을 처음 보고 꽃이 필 때 다시 찾아갔다가 꽃을 봐도 정체를 몰라서

취나물속 전공 교수님께 보여드리기까지 했는데 무등취로 결론이 났었다.

 

그 이후 강원도 큰 고개마루 다른 곳에서도 이 녀석이 자생하는 것을 발견하였다.

취나물속에도 발견 지역을 붙여서 명명하는 경우가 많은 것 같다. 태백취, 함백취, 백운취, 남해분취............

취나물속 미기록종이나 신분류군이 자꾸 발견이 되니까 지역을 붙이는 게 이름짓기가 수월하긴 한데

식물의 특징을 짐작할 수 있는 이름이면 더 좋았을 것 같다는 생각이다.

 

이 녀석은 화기를 맞추어 꽃을 보기가 쉽지 않다.

먼 거리라서 자주 들르기도 어려운데다가 매년 화기가 보름 정도의 차이가 있기 때문이다.

 

첫 발견 시에도 그 해  몇 번을 찾아가서 꽃을 한 번 대면하긴 했지만

첫 발견 이후 꽃을 보지 못하여 올해도 작정하고 찾았더니 다행하게도 개화를 하기 시작이었다. 

 

이미 다른 산의 봉오리 상태를 10일 전에 확인하였던 터라 기대를 하긴 했지만

벌써 져버렸으면 어쩌나 걱정이 되긴 했는데 한 포기는 꽃이 졌지만 다른 개체들은 개화가 좀 늦는 것 같다.

무등취는 2007년 광주 무등산(장불재-서석대)에서 발견되어 우리나라 미기록식물로 보고되었다. 일본의 규슈와 시코쿠의 해발 1,000m 이상의 고산 초지나 전석지에 분포한다. 무등취가 속한 광의의 Saussurea nipponica complex는 변이 폭이 다양하여 여러 개의 아종, 변종으로 세분화되기도 한다(홍과 임, 2007)

 

 

총포편이 가는 피침형으로 길고 총포에 거미줄털이 있다.

 

줄기 아래쪽 잎은 넓은 난형 또는 콩팥 모양으로 길이 15~18cm, 폭 10~13cm,

밑부분은 심장형이고 끝은 급하게 뾰족해지며 가장자리에 불규칙한 톱니가 있다.

잎자루에 좁은 날개가 발달하여 줄기의 날개와 연결된다.
