줄기 아래쪽 잎은 삼각상 난형으로 길이 9~10cm, 폭 6~9cm,
밑부분은 심장형이고 양 끝이 화살처럼 뾰족하게 퍼지기도 하며 가장자리에 불규칙한 톱니가 있다.
잎 뒷면은 회백색 거미줄 모양 털로 덮여 있으나 성숙하면 거의 없어진다. 뿌리잎은 꽃이 필 때 시든다.

| 근엽은 있으나 꽃이 필 즈음 말라 없어진다. 줄기 아래의 잎은 삼각상 난형으로 길이 9-10cm , 나비 6-9cm로서, 끝은 짧은 꼬리 모양이 되어 뾰족하고, 밑은 심장 모양이나 양끝이 화설처럼 약간 뾰족하게 퍼지기도 한다. 가장자리에는 끝이 뾰족한 톱니가 불규칙하다. 위 면에는 짧고 거친 털이 약간 있고 아래 면은 백회색 거미줄 털로 덮여 있으나 자라면서 드문드문 떨어져나가 가을에는 거의 없어진다. 줄기 위쪽의 잎은 잠점 작아지며 아래 면에 백회색 거미줄 털이 많다. 5, 6월 경 줄기가 갈라져서 끝에 두화가 생겨 엉성한 산방화서를 이룬다. 총포는 길이 9-11mm, 나비 6-8mm의 원통형으로 백회색 거미줄 털이 엉켜 있으나 시간이 지나면서 줄어들기도 한다. 포편은 밀착해서 7열을 이루는데, 외편은 길이 2mm의 끝이 뾰족한 정삼각형에 가깝고, 중편, 내편으로 갈수록 길어져서 내편은 선형이 된다. 9-10월 초에 걸쳐서 길이 9-11mm 전후의 옅은 홍자색 꽃이 핀다. |
이 녀석의 잎 뒷면은 아직도 거미줄 같은 털이 보이는데 이 털은 점차 떨어져 나가서 가을에는 남지 않게 된다고 한다.
녀석을 오래 관찰하던 꽃동무는 잎 뒷면의 털이 사라지는 걸 관찰해서 확인을 했다고 한다.
