이 녀석 실물을 접할 기회가 있겠지 하고 기다리던 시간.
꽃동무로부터 정보를 얻었다.
여태 모람에 비하여 열매가 크다 (지름 2cm 정도)는 이유로 왕모람 Ficus pumila L. 으로 불리던 녀석은
오동정된 것으로 애기모람 Ficus thunbergii Maxim. 으로 재 정리가 되었고
실제의 왕모람 Ficus pumila L. 이 바로 아래 녀석인 것이다.

금방 보러 갈 것 같았는데 이런 저런 일정 때문에 이제서야 녀석 앞에 섰다.
열매가 두 개 남아 있을 거라더니 전년도에 달린 화낭이 약간 어두운 자색기운을 비추고 있는 열매가 보인다.
열매는 애기모람이나 모람 같은 구형이 아닌 나무 팽이 형태의 원뿔형이었다. (길이 4-8cm, 너비 3-5cm)
잎도 크고 열매도 큰 모습이 왕이란 이름으로 불릴만 하다.
우리가 부르던 왕모람(실제 애기모람)과는 잎과 열매가 더 크고 열매 모양도 중국배 처럼 원뿔형 비슷한 게 완연히 다르다.
동남아지역에서는 왕모람을 과일이나 요리 재료, 차 등으로 식용을 한하며 재배를 한다고 한다

그리고 더 반가운 것은 화낭이 많이 달려 있다는 것이다.
말 그대로 꽃주머니인 것이다. 모람, 천선과, 무화과나무는 모두 무화과, 즉 꽃이 없는 과일이란 뜻으로
우리가 상식적으로 생각하고 있는 꽃이 아닌, 이 열매처럼 생긴 화낭 속에 암꽃과 수꽃이 숨어 있는 것이다.
암꽃 화낭과 수꽃 화낭이 따로 있는데 화낭의 꽃가루 수분 매개체로 좀벌이 있다.
화낭 가운데 부분 끝이 뾰족한 입구로 좀벌이 들락거리면서 꽃자루를 옮겨서 수정을 시키게 된다.
무화과속은 암수 화낭이 따로 달리는 암수딴그루라, 이 화낭이 암화낭인지 수화낭인지는 갈라봐야 알 수 있겠다.
(나중에 자른 단면을 확인한 결과 수화낭이었다.)
아직 5~6월이 되어야 화낭 속의 꽃이 개화를 하는데 개화 상태를 보기 위해서 다시 한 번 찾아 봐야할 것 같다.
잎 겨드랑이에는 마악 인편을 벗고 있는 콩알만한 화낭이 보이기도 한다.
잎은 두텁고 뒷면은 분녹색이며 잎맥이 돌출되어 있다.
애기모람 처럼 무성지와 유성지의 것이 모양과 크기가 다르다.
유성지의 잎은 난상 심장형, 난상 타원형, 장란형으로 길이 5-12cm, 너비 2-5cm이다
주맥 뿐만 아니라 망상맥 까지 돌출되고 전체적으로 털이 있다
가지에는 털이 있고 잎자루 아래 피침형의 탁엽이 보인다.
