왕모람(뽕나무과 무화과나무속) Ficus pumila L.

이번 제주 탐사에 이 녀석을 꼭 확인해야 하는 목적도 있었다.

식물원 온실에서 왕모람 전초의 모습과 화낭까지 본 적이 있지만

야외에서 자라는 모습이 보고 싶었던 것이다.

 

엽형은 애기모람과 유사하지만 묵은 가지 잎의 크기는 모람보다 더 넓다.
아직 우리 나라에는 자생하지 않고 식물원에 드물게 보유하고 있는 곳이 있다.

 

열매나 화낭을 보려고 한 시간이 넘도록 찾아 보았지만 아쉽게도 기대는 날아가 버렸다.
이곳은 심겨진지 오래되었는데 아마도 관리를 한다고 가지치기를 하면서 굵은 가지를 다 잘라버린 것 같다.
굵은 가지들을 다 베어 버렸으니 화낭이 달릴 리가 없다.
그 중 화를 모면한 가지의 큰 잎이 남아 있는 게 있어서 다행이긴 한데,
주변의 지물에 붙어 있는 덩굴의 어린 잎만으로는 그냥  애기모람으로 보고 가버릴 정도이다.

그나마 한쪽 구석에 예취기 칼날을 피한 가지들이 좀 남아 있어서 큰 잎을 촬영할 수 있었다.
애기모람과 엽형은 비슷하지만  굵은 가지의 잎이 매우 크다.  모람보다도 잎이 더 크다.

수 년 전에도 이 곳을 방문한 적이 있는데 그 때는 애기모람인 줄 알았더랬다.

왕모람 Ficus pumila L.	난상 심장형, 난상 타원형,장란형	길이 5-12cm, 너비 2-5cm	거치가 없다	적갈색 털이 있다	길이4-8cm 너비3-5cm 서양배모양, 구형, 원통형,열매자루 길다

우리가 여태 왕모람으로 잘못 부르던 (실제 애기모람 Ficus thunbergii Maxim. ) 녀석은 열매가 동그란 구형이다.
왕모람(Ficus pumila L.)은 애기모람 보다 잎과 열매가 더 크고 열매 모양도 중국배 처럼 원뿔형 비슷한 게 완연히 다르다.
동남아지역에서는 왕모람을 과일이나 요리 재료, 차 등으로 식용을 하며 재배를 한다고 한다

아래 녀석이 바로 왕모람 Ficus pumila L.인 것이다

 

어린 잎과 어린 덩굴은 애기모람과 흡사하다.

주변의 나무를 높이 기어 올라서 장식을 해 버렸다.

송악과 어우러져 살고 있다.
