개옻나무(옻나무과 옻나무속)

암수딴그루로 잎자루가 붉고 엽축에 날개가 없다.(붉나무는 날개가 있다)

작은잎은 13~17개, 톱니가 2~3개 있는 것과 없는 것이 있다. 낮은 산자락 어디든지 서식한다, 

 

 

 

원추화서는 액생하며 길이 15-30cm로서 갈색 털이 밀생하고 꽃은 이가화로서 황록색의 작은 꽃이 조밀하게 달린다. 꽃받침, 꽃잎 및 수술이 각 5개이고 암꽃은 5개의 작은 수술과 3개의 암술머리가 있는 1개의 1실 자방이 있다. 꽃은 6-7월에 핀다.

잎은 호생하며 길이 25-50cm로서 기수1회우상복엽이고 가지 끝에 모여 달리고 소엽은 7-15개이며 엽병이 짧고 난형 또는 긴 타원형이며 점첨두 원저이고 길이 4-10cm, 폭 3-5cm로서 표면은 맥 위에 털이 있거나 거의 없으며 뒷면에 털이 있고 가장자리가 밋밋한 것과 2-3개의 톱니가 있는 것이 섞여 있다. 암, 수의 그루가 다르다. 잎이 가을철에 붉게 단풍이 든다.

 

 

 

열매는 지름 6mm인 핵과로 편구형이며 자모(刺毛)로 덮여 있고 10월에 황갈색으로 익는다.
