개옻나무(옻나무과 붉나무속)

낙엽 소교목으로서 높이가 7m에 달하지만 흔히 관목상으로 되며

소지는 엽축과 더불어 붉은빛이 돌고 잎과 더불어 갈색 털이 많다.

열매는 지름 6mm인 핵과로 편구형이며 외과피 표면에 가시털로 덮여 있고 10월에 황갈색으로 익는다.

 

같은 옻나무과 붉나무속인 산검양옻나무와 검양옻나무, 붉나무는 붉게 단풍이 드는데 개옻나무는 노랗게 단풍인 든다

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

가시털이 있는 누른 껍질이 터지면서 세로줄이 나 있는 흰껍질로 싸고 있는 열매가 드러 난다

 

 

 

 

 

산검양옻나무와 유사하지만 외과피 표면에 가시털이 밀생하는 점이 다르다

중과피는 백색으로 세로줄이나 있으며 왁스층으로 이루어져 광택이 있다.

엽흔은 삼각상을 이룬다

 

 

겨울눈은 갈색털로 덮여 있다.

 

 

 

잎자루는 붉고 황갈색 털이 밀생한다.

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 9~17개의 소엽으로 가장자리가 밋맛하지만 간혹 결각상 톱니가 있기도 하다

잎 뒷면 맥 위에는 부드러운 털이 밀생한다.
