만항재 숲에는 명자순 연두색 어린 열매가 기우는 햇살에 윤을 내고 있다.
명자순은 숲에 천지 삐까리였다.
이른 봄 얼레지나 갈퀴현호색 바람꽃들만 담고 다시는 쳐다 보지도 않았으니 나무 열매들이 이렇게 풍성한 줄 알았겠나.
여럿이 함께 탐사를 하게 되면 이미 잘 알려진 것들만 담게 되어서 찬찬히 살필 시간이 없이 다른 것들을 발견하지 못한다.
이렇게 혼자 숲은 뒤지다 보면 꽤 쏠쏠하게 많은 것들을 만날 수 있어서 좋다.
까마귀밥나무, 까치밥나무, 꼬리까치밥나무, 명자순 등은 참 비슷 비슷하다. 하지만 잎새를 자세히 보면 특징이 있다.
잎, 꽃, 열매의 특징만 눈에 익혀 두면 오케이다.
열매 배꼽에는 꽃받침이 아직 남아 있고 포엽도 남아 있는 것이 보인다.
꽃은 이가화로 4월 하순에 피고 총상화서에 달리며 수꽃화서에 7-10송이 암꽃화서에 2-6송이씩 달리고
선상(腺狀)의 털이 있으며,
화서의 포는 일찍 떨어진다고 하는데 아직 포가 매달려 있다
.
잎은 삼각상 원형이고 3개로 얕게 갈라지며 복거치가 있고 첨두이며 예저 또는 아심장저이고
길이와 폭이 각각 2-4cm로서 양면에 털이 산생하지만 뒷면에 털이 없는 것도 있다.
잎 뒷면에도 잔털이 있다. 엽병은 길이 7-10mm이고 잔털이 산생한다.
<암 꽃>
꽃 아래 자방이 있고 피침형의 포엽도 보인다.
<수꽃>
수술이 6개 암술은 있으니 헛암술이다 자방이 없다.
