둥근잎눈까치밥나무(범의귀과 까치밥나무속)

닷새 째 날 이번 백두산 탐사의 가장 중요한 식물인 유령난을 찾아서 원시의 숲을 찾았디. 

길도 없는 숲이라 절대로 한 눈을 필거나 잠시라도 개별 행동을 하다가는 일행을 잃어 버릴 수 있다는 말에

바짝 긴장을 하고 주변에 스쳐가는 식물들은 그냥 보고 지날 수 밖에 없었다.

 

오랜 시간 숲을 뒤진 끝에 몇 개체 유령난을 찾긴 했는데 결과적으로는  예년에 비하여 개화 시기가 많이 늦어졌다는 것이다.

푹신한 이끼 바닥은 이동에 체력 소모를 배가 시켰지만 따라 가는 와중에도 숲 바닥을 스캔하면서 눈까치밥나무 열매를 찾았는데

앞 쪽에서 붉은 열매를 찾아 놓아서 반갑게 담을 수가 있었다.

 

잎이 얕게 갈라진 모습으로 결각 끝이 둔하게 생겼는데 까막바늘까치밥나무 처럼 줄기가 바닥을 기는 포복성이지만

까막바늘까치밥나무에 비하여 가시가 없었다.

김진석 김태영 저 한국의나무 도감에는 둥근잎눈까치밥나무라 신칭해 놓은 자료가 있는데

눈까치밥나무보다 잎이 둥글고 꽃차례가 곧추 서고 꽃받침 열편이 뒤로 말리는 특징이 있다고 한다

 

깊은 산의 숲 속에 자라는 낙엽 떨기나무이다. 줄기는 대개 옆으로 벋으며, 높이 20-40cm이다. 수피는 어두운 밤색으로 벗겨지며 털이 없다. 잎은 어긋나며, 3-5갈래로 갈라진 둥근 심장형이고 가장자리는 둔한 톱니 모양이다. 잎 앞면은 짧은 털이 성글게 있고 뒷면에는 맥에만 짧은 털이 있다. 꽃은 6월에 피며, 가지 끝이나 잎겨드랑이에서 총상꽃차례에 달린다. 꽃잎은 도란형, 꽃받침잎은 둥근 모양이다. 열매는 장과로 붉게 익는다. 우리나라 북부지방에 자생한다.
