풍년화(조록나무과)

토요일. 인사가 터졌다고 어수선하지만

풍년화가 피었다는 소식이 있길래 삼지닥나무도 폈겠지 하고 달려갔다.

 

삼지닥나무는 12월에 보았던 모습과 별로 달리진 게 없고

풍년화가 꼬깃꼬깃 접었던 길쭉한 꽃잎을 노랗게 펼치고 있었다.

그것도 한 그루만. 옆의 나무는 한 사흘 후 쯤 따신 볕을 맞으면 꽃이 필 것 같고.

 

풍년화는 잎보다 먼저 황색꽃이 만발하기 때문에 일본에서는 만작(滿作)이라고도 하며

꽃은 전년지 가지의 엽액에서 1개씩 또는 여러 개가 모여 달린다.

그런데 이 녀석은 꽃이 피도록 왜 말라버린 나뭇잎에 대한 미련을 버리지 못하고 매달고 있을까?

 

꽃받침잎은 4개이고 난형으로서 뒤로 젖혀지며 안쪽은 암자색이고 털이 없으며 겉에 융모가 밀생하고 꽃잎도 4개로서 선형이며 길이 1cm이다. 수술은 4개고 극히 짧으며 자방에 2개의 암술대가 있다. 

 

지난 해 열매와 잎이 그대로 매달려 있는 채로 꽃이 피고 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

옆의 나무에는 아직 이렇게 꽃잎을 말아쥐고 있다.
