초종용(열당과 초종용속) Orobanche coerulescens Stepha

사철쑥에 기생하는 녀석으로 삼방산을 배경으로 한 해안 모래밭에 매년 돋아나고 있다. 

 

전체에 희고 부드러운 털이 있다. 뿌리줄기는 통통하고, 다육질의 수염뿌리가 사철쑥 뿌리에 붙는다. 줄기는 외대로 곧추서며, 높이 10-40cm, 노란빛이 도는 갈색이다. 잎은 드문드문 어긋나며, 비늘 모양, 난상 피침형, 길이 1.0-1.5cm이다. 꽃은 줄기 위쪽에서 이삭꽃차례로 달리며, 연한 보라색이다. 꽃차례는 길이 10-15cm이다. 꽃싸개잎은 난상 삼각형, 1.5-2.0cm이다. 꽃받침은 2갈래, 길이 0.8-1.8cm이다. 화관은 통 모양, 길이 1.8-2.5cm, 끝이 입술 모양, 윗입술은 2갈래, 아랫입술은 3갈래로 갈라진다. 수술은 2개, 길다. 암술은 1개, 암술대는 털이 거의 없다. 열매는 삭과이며, 타원형이다
