호자덩굴(꼭두서니과) 열매 Mitchella undulata Siebold & Zucc.

호자덩굴 열매를 첨 봤다고 하니 아무도 믿지 않는다.

지난 6월에 꽃을 처음 보았고 이번에 같은 장소에서 열매를 담은 게 첨이다.

제주도를 그렇게 들락거리면서 이 녀석 꽃과 열매를 보자고 그리 애를 썼는데 우째 갈때 마다 만나지지 않았으니....

 

 

 

6월에 담았던 호자덩굴 꽃이다.

하나의 화경 끝에 소화경이 없는 2송이의 꽃이 피는데 자방이 커지면서 하나로 합체가 되어 버린다.

 

 

 

그래서 2개의 꽃이 달렸던 자리는 배꼽처럼 흔적이 있고

4갈래로 갈라진 꽃받침은 그대로 남아서 뿔처럼 보이는데 그 뿔이 호자덩굴 열매의 매력이다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 대생하고 질이 두터우며 삼각상 난형이고 길이 1~1.5cm, 폭 7~12mm로서 끝이 뾰족하거나 둔하며

밑부분이 둥글고 양면에 털이 없으며 가장자리가 다소 파상으로 되고 짙은 녹색이며 엽병은 길이 2~5mm이다.

 

 

장과는 둥글며 적색으로 익고 지름 약 8mm로서 끝에 2개의 꽃이 달렸던 자리와 각각 4개의 꽃받침잎이 남아 있다.

 

 

줄기는 털이 없고 줄기가 땅을 기며 가지가 갈라지고 마디에서 뿌리가 내린다.
