중국 원산의 노랑해당화이다. 정원에 식재를 많이 하나 보다.
원예종이라 하지만 흔하지 않은 녀석에 귀엽기까지 하다.
꽃은 5월에 피며 지름 4-5cm로서 황색이고 많첩이며 짧은 가지 끝에 1개씩 피고 화경에 털이 없으며 꽃받침통이 둥글다.
꽃이 황색이기 때문에 노란해당화라고 한다
꽃받침 열편은 좁고 피침형이며 길이 1.5cm로서 안쪽에 융모가 있다. 꽃잎은 도란형으로 수가 많다.
잎은 호생하고 5-9개의 소엽으로 구성된 우상복엽이며, 소엽은 타원형, 도란형이고 원두, 예저로 길이 0.8-1.5cm, 폭 0.5-1cm 로서
표면에 털이 없으며 뒷면에 잔털이 있고 가장자리에 잔톱니가 있다. 탁엽은 피침형이다.
가지는 아래로 처지고 곧은 가시와 굽은 가시가 있고 소지는 암갈색이며 가시가 많다
