섬현삼(현삼과)

멸종위기 2급으로 울릉도에만 자생하는 특산식물이다.

개체수가 점점 줄어들고 있다는데 이 녀석도 섬시호와 함께 보호 목책 안에 무성하게 자라고 있는 걸 담았다.

 

 

꽃은 6~7월에 줄기 끝에 정생하는 원추화서에 많은 꽃이 달리며 화서는 길이 15~32cm로서 원줄기 끝에서 발달하고 소화경에 선모가 있다.

꽃받침은 길이 2.5~3mm, 지름 5mm로서 5개로 갈라지며

서로 포개지고 열편은 삼각상 난형으로 둔두이며   길이 1.5mm, 폭 3mm이고

화관은 길이 1cm 정도로서 녹색이 도는 자주색이며 통부는 길이와 지름이 각각 5~6mm이고 정열편은 길며 3개로 갈라진다.  암술대는 길이 2mm이지만 자라서 3mm 정도로 되고 암술머리는 점상이다.

 

  

 

잎은 대생하고 중앙부의 경생엽은 길이 4~7.5cm이지만 가장 큰 잎은 길이 12~18.5cm, 폭 9~11cm로서 둔두이며

절저 또는 아심장저이고 털이 없으며 가장자리에 크고 뾰족한 톱니가 있다

높이가 1m에 달하고 줄기에 날개가 있다.
