큰개현삼(현삼과 현삼속) Scrophularia kakudensis Franch.

큰개현삼이 꽃이 피고 있다는 소식에 급히 서둘렀다.

큰개현삼이라 담았던 녀석들 모두 토현삼으로 확인이 되고 큰개현삼을 한 번도 대면하지 못하였기에.

그리 멀지 않은 1시간 내의 장소라  더위로 온 산천과 사람이 기운을 펴지 못해도 이 녀석 만큼은 봐야했다.

 

장소를 안내하여 줄 꽃동무와 합류하여 큰개현삼을 대면하니....

옴마야~!! 무스기 녀석이 이리도 키가 크당가? 내가 팔을 뻗어도 닿지 않을만큼의 크기이니 2m가 훌쩍 넘는다고 봐야한다.

 

잎이 내 손바닥을 덮고도 남을 크기이다.

1m 남짓하게 자라는 토현삼의 크기나 별반 차이가 없는 걸로 알고 있었는데 아마 환경이 좋은 장소라서 엄청 커 버린 것 같다.

 

  

토현삼과 큰개현삼의 가장 쉬운 차이점은 꽃받침과 화서이다.

큰개현삼은 꽃받침 폭과 길이가 거의 비슷하거나 길이가 짧아서 꽃받침이 짧고 납작한 느낌이며 화서는 줄기 끝에 정생하는데

토현삼은 꽃받침의 길이가 폭의 2배 정도로 길어서 꽃받침이 좁고 길다. 화서는 액생과 정생하는데 화서 중간에 잎이 많이 있다.

 

 

 

꽃받침 모양을 잡기 위해서 바짝 들이대어 보니 길이는 짧고 폭이 넓은 큰개현삼의 특징이 드러난다.

 

 

큰개현삼과 토현삼은 모두 소화경에 선모가 있다.

 

 

 

  

잎은 아래쪽이 수평한 절저이거나 원저이며 톱니가 많다.

 

 

잎이 얼마나 크던지 내 손바닥 보다 더 넓었다.

 

  

화서는 줄기 끝에 정생하고 취산화서가 모여 원추화서를 이룬다
