큰개현삼(현삼과 현삼속)

1. 잎은 털이 없고 두꺼우며 윤기가 난다. (꽃은 흑자색) (잎자루에 날개가 있다)

    2. 줄기에 날개가 있다. ........................................................................개현삼 (원뿔모양 총상화서)

1. 잎은 털이 있고 얇으며 윤기가 나지 않는다.(잎자루에 날개가 없다)

    3. 꽃은 홍자색이다.

        4. 꽃받침 갈래조각은 길이가 폭과 비슷하며 끝은 둔하다.  .......................큰개현삼 (원뿔모양 총상화서) (정단형 화서)

        4. 꽃받침 갈래조각은 길이가 폭보다 2배 이상 길며 끝은 뾰족하다............토현삼 (원뿔모양 총상화서) (엽액형 화서)

토현삼은 꽃받침 열편 길이가 열편 폭의 2배 이상 길고 끝이 뾰족한데,

큰개현삼은 꽃받침 열편이 토현삼보다 넓고 짧다
