팽나무속 가족 중 한 녀석이다.
숲에서는 일부러 찾지 않고는 만나기 쉽지 않은 녀석이라 생태숲에 들른 김에 검게 익은 열매를 담았다.
8월에 파란 열매를 담았는데 봄에 꽃을 담을 기회가 있을지 모르겠다.
측맥은 3쌍으로 엽병은 길이 15-18mm로서 털이 있거나 없다.
잎의 하반부가 상반부보다 폭이 넓어 팽나무와 구별된다
열매는 핵과이고 둥근모양이며 지름 6-8mm로서 10월에 흑색으로 익고 과경은 길이 25mm로서 털이 없다.
잎은 호생하며 길이 2-10cm,폭 5cm로서 타원형 또는 긴타원형이고 점첨두이거나 약간 꼬리처럼 길게 뾰족해지며
밑부분은 원저 또는 넓은 예저이고 윗부분에 예리한 톱니 내곡거치(內曲鋸齒)가 있으며
밑으로부터 1/3정도에는 톱니가 없으며 표면은 짙은 녹색으로서 거칠고
뒷면은 연한 녹색이며 맥 위에 털이 있고 측맥은 3쌍이다. 엽병은 길이 15-18mm로서 털이 있거나 없다.
