산호수(자금우과 자금우속) Ardisia pusilla A.DC.

자금우과의 3형제로 백량금, 자금우, 산호수가 있다.

백량금과 자금우는 제주도 산록의 눈 속에서 빨간 열매를 단 걸 담은 적이 있는데, 산호수는 자생 상태에서 만나지 못하였다.

 

자료가 없어서 할 수 없이 화분에 담긴 걸 자료용으로 담았다. 산호수는 백량금처럼 뿌리줄기로 퍼져 나간다.

줄기와 잎 자루에 적갈색 털이 많다. 셋중에 잎이 가장 넓다.

 산형화서는 엽액 또는 포엽에서 나와 2-4개의 꽃이 달리며 길이 2-3㎝로서 긴 털과 입자상(粒子狀)의 털이 있다.

꽃은 6월에 백색으로 피고 소화경은 길이 7-12㎜로서 털이 있다. 꽃받침잎은 피침형으로 예첨두이며 화관은 지름 6-7㎜로서 백색이다.

5개의 열편은 난형 첨두이며 흑색점이 있다. 지름 5~6mm의 장과로서 둥글고 9월에 적색으로 익는다.

 

  

줄기전체에 적갈색 털이 밀생한다.

 잎은 가지끝에 4장씩 윤생하고 길이 3~4cm, 폭 1.5~3.0cm의 타원형이며 양면에 붉은 갈색의 긴 털이 있고

가장자리에는 톱니가 드문드문 나 있다. 엽병은 길이 5-10㎜로 밀모(密毛)가 있다.
