자금우(자금우과 자금우속) 열매

수목원 숲 한쪽에 큰 나무들과 관목을 베어내고 작은 지피 식물들이 살아나도록 배려를 해 놓고 있다.

그 곳에 자금우가 바닥을 덮고 있는데 소엽맥문동과 호자덩굴도 함께 어우러져서

트인 공간으로 들어 오는 햇살을 받으면서 꽃을 잘 피우고 열매도 충실하게 달고 있다.

 

제주도와 남해안 지역 숲 바닥에 많이 서식을 하고 있는 이 녀석을

예전에는 산호수나 백량금과 함께 수입 원예종으로 알고 있었더랬다. 분재용으로 많이 이용되었기 때문이었다. ㅎ.
