산호수(자금우과 자금우속) Ardisia pusilla A.DC.

드뎌 자생의 산호수를 처음 만났다.

여태껏  화분에 심겨진 것만 봐 오던 터라 언젠가 꼭 자생의 산호수를 보고자 했더니 처음 가보는 곶자왈 바닥에 흔하게 깔려 있지 뭔가.

 

자금우과인 백량금과 자금우는 한라산 숲 어딜 가든 흔하게 만날 수 있었는데

제주수선화를 보러 가는 걸 포기하고 산호수를 보고자 했던 선택이 잘 한 것 같다.

제주수선화야 여러 번 봤기 때문에 당연히 처음 만나는 산호수가 내게는 더 반가운 만남이거늘.

 

제주도의 표고 300m 이하 저지대의 상록수림하에서 드물게 자라며

자금우에 비하여 잎이 더 넓고 거치는 더 크고 엉성하고 불규칙하다. 줄기와 잎자루에 누른 털로 덮여 있다.

 

 

 

 

  

  

 

 

잎은 윤생하고 길이 3~4cm, 폭 1.5~3.0cm의 타원형이며 양면에 붉은 갈색의 긴 털이 있으며

가장자리에는 톱니가 드문드문 나 있다. 엽병은 길이 5-10㎜로 밀모가 있다.

 

 

 

높이 5-8cm이고 지하경 끝이 지상경으로 되며 전체에 적갈색 털이 밀생한다.
