왕과(박과 왕과속) Thladiantha dubia Bunge

반가운 소식.

 

암꽃을 피우던 왕과가 매년 농도 진한 제초제로 폭격을 맞아서

꽃도 제대로 피우지도 못하였더랬는데,

그저께 그 곳을 지나가다가 혹시나 하고 들렀더니

환삼덩굴과 엉겨서 아주 무성하게 덩굴을 올리고 있었다.

 

매년 그 밭에 2모작을 하면서 이맘 때 쯤에는 김장용 배추 모종을 심었는데

올해는 너른 밭에 콩을 재배하고 있었다.

 

계속 같은 작물을 재배하여 연작의 피해를 줄이기 위해서 콩을 심었는지

아니면 코로나 때문에 외노자들을 구하지 못하여 일손이 없으니 재배가 쉬운 콩을 심었는지는 모르겠지만

일단 울타리에 제초제를 뿌리지 않았다는 사실이 엄청 반가웠다.

 

헌데 문제는 환삼덩굴이 너무 세력이 강하고 왕과도 덩굴이 너무 엉겨서 꽃을 많이 피지 못한 것 같다.

덩굴 끝에 암꽃을 달고 있는 모습이 군데군데 보이긴 한데 생각보다 꽃이 적었다.

혹시나 열매가 있을까 해서 줄기를 뒤집어 봤지만 열매는 찾을 수 없었다.

몇 번 들락거리면서 상황을 지켜봐야겠다.
