얼마 전까지만 해도 이 녀석을 눈괴불주머니로 알려져 있었다.
헌데 1999년 발표된 오병운 교수의 [한국산 현호색속 분류학적 재검토] 논문에 의하면
눈괴불주머니는 우리 나라에 서식하지 않는 종으로 열매의 종자 배열이 2배열 하며
이 녀석은 종자 배열이 1배열인 선괴불주머니라는 것으로 정리되었다.
선괴불주머니는 남한 중부와 남부의 내륙지방에 널리 분포하며 일본에도 생육한다

| 우리 나라에서는 눈괴불주머니로 잘못 알려진 식물이다. 눈괴불주머니는 넓은 광타원형의 포와 종자가 거의 2배열 하는 넓은 선형의 열매로 특징지워질 수 있으며 포의 길이와 폭은 과병과 열매를 합친 것 만큼 크다. 남한에서는 아직까지 이의 표본이나 자생지를 확인하지 못하였으며 도감류에 게재된 그림이나 사진은 대부분 선괴불주머니를 잘못 실은 것이다. |
중국에는 눈괴불주머니가 분포하고 있다고 하는데
백두산을 다녀 온 분들 중에 드물게 눈괴불주머니의 2배열 열매를 담아 온 걸 보면 포가 유난히 크고 열매의 너비가 확실하게 넓었다.
열매가 납작하고 짧은 형태로 종자는 1배열 한다.(2013. 10. 5. 청량산)
