올해는 경남의 섬에서 모시풀을 만났다.
잎이 마주나는 것은 섬모시풀과 비슷하지만 줄기에 퍼진 털이 많은 점이 다른 모시풀이다.
모시풀 동네도 참 머리가 아프다.
그래도 몇 종은 이름을 찾아두었는데 비슷한 녀석들을 만나 때마다 끙끙거려야 한다
이 녀석은 민가 주변 공터에 있는 것을 보면 재배하는 것 같기도 하다
이 모시풀 껍질로 모시를 짰다고 하는데 지금은 모시떡으로 더 유명한 녀석이다.
오래 전에는 모시의 섬유자원으로 재배하는 것이 야생상으로 퍼져 나갔다고 보는 견해도 있다.
줄기에 긴털이 있고 탁엽은 선형이다
잎 표면은 짙은 녹색으로서 털이 약간 있으나 뒷면은 솜털이 밀생하여 흰빛이 돌며 맥 위에 퍼진 털이 있다. 엽병은 잎과 길이가 같거나 약간 짧고 퍼진 잔털이 있다.
잎자루 잎뒷면 맥 위, 줄기에는 긴털이 빽빽하고 탁엽은 선형이다.

잎은 호생한다. 잎의 뒷면은 솜털로 덮여서 희다.

잎은 호생하고 난상 원형이며 길이 10-15cm, 폭 6-12cm로서 끝이 꼬리처럼 약간 길고 밑부분은 둔저 또는 원저이며 가장자리에 규칙적인 톱니가 있다.
