제주모시풀(쐐기풀과 모시풀속) Boehmeria quelpaertensis Satake

제주도의 곶자왈을 통과하는 올레길에 늦게 자란 제주모시풀이 깔끔하다 

제주의 올레길은 제주의 자연을 있는 그대로 느끼고 볼 수 있다는 데서 올레꾼들이 많이 찾고 있다.

한라산 중산간 숲길을 걷는 둘레길도 생기고 육지의 각 지역마다 올레길 아류의 길을 개발하느라 야단법석이다.

 

꽃동무 한 분이 올레길의 과잉 개발을 걱정하는 소리를 하였다.

올레길을 개발한답시고 주변의 자연을 인공적으로 왜곡하거나 훼손이 되는 경우 있다고...

무엇이든지 지나침은 아니함만 못하다.

 

제주도에는 모시풀 종류가 참 많다. 모시풀 가족들도 구분이 어렵지만

그래도 왕모시풀은 그 이름에 걸맞게 잎이 두텁고 크고 톱니가 잔잔하니 질서 있어서 쉬 알아챌 수가 있다.

 

헌데 이 녀석은 왕모시풀과 왜모시풀의 중간 형태를 보이는 분류군으로서 제주도 숲 가장자리에서 자란다.

학자에 따라 이 녀석을 왕모시풀이나 왜모시풀에 통합 처리하기도 한다.

 

왕모시풀처럼 톱니가 균일하지만 잎이 작고 얇으며 밑부분이 둥글거나 얕은 심장모양이다.

 

 

 

올해 꽃을 피웠던 녀석들은 마른 가지만 남기고 사라진 모양이다

새로 자란 잎이 아직 어리다.
