모시풀(쐐기풀과 모시풀속) Boehmeria nivea (L.) Gaudich.

영광모시떡이었던가?

언젠가 모시풀 잎을 짓찧어서 쌀가루와 버물어서 송편을 만든 모시떡을 먹은 적이 있는데 맛이 일품이었던 기억이 있다.

그 모시풀이 남쪽 섬지역에 흔하게 자라고 있다.

 

쐐기풀과 모시풀속 중에서도 섬모시풀과 모시풀이 잎이 어긋나기이다.

모시풀은 줄기와 잎자루의 털이 긴데 비하여 섬모시풀의 털을 아주 짧고

섬모시풀의 탁엽은 아래쪽이 합생하지만 모시풀은 선형의 탁엽이 분리되어 있다.

 

 

 

 

 

선형의 탁엽이 한쌍 있다.  

 

 

 

 

원줄기는 높이 1-2m이고 둥글며 약간 가지가 갈라지기도 하고 녹색으로서 엽병과 더불어 퍼진 잔털이 많다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

꽃은 7-8월에 피고 암수한그루로서 원추화서로 엽액에 달리고, 화서가 엽병보다 짧다.

수꽃 화서는 줄기 밑부분에, 암꽃 화서는 줄기 윗부분에 달리며 화서는 길이 5-10cm이다.

수꽃은 황백색으로 화피 4장, 수술 4개로 되어 있다.

암꽃은 연녹색으로 통모양의 화피에 싸이고, 여러 개의 꽃이 모여 둥글게 되며 암술 1개로 구성되어 있다.
