8월에 어렵게 만났던 탐라풀이 9월에는 여기 저기 눈에 잘 띈다. 아마 지금이 개화 적기인 모양이다.
이 녀석은 꼭두선이과 백운풀속이라 얼마 전에 담은 산방백운풀과 매우 가까운 녀석이다.
제주도에서 발견되어서 학회에 보고 된지 그리 오래되지는 않은 모양이다.
꽃은 8-10월에 피며 엽액에 몇 개씩 달리고 소화경은 거의 없거나 짧으며 꽃받침 열편은 난형이고 길이 2mm로서 끝이 둔하며
열매가 익을 때 밖으로 젖혀진다. 화관은 백색이고 4개로 갈라지며 길이 3~4mm이다
잎은 대생하고 난형이며 길이 2~4cm, 나비 1-2cm로서 끝이 뾰족하고 밑부분이 둥글거나 좁으며
가장자리는 밋밋하고 엽병은 길이 5-15mm이며 털이 있다.
높이 20-40cm이고 줄기 밑이 옆으로 뻗으며 가지가 갈라져서 비스듬히 서며 다세포로 된 백색 털이 다소 있다.
