일본매자나무(매자나무과 ) 열매 Berberis thunbergii DC.

붉은 열매가 앙징스러운 매자나무. 봄에 꽃을 담지 못하였다.

매자나무과 관목으로 높이가 2m 정도, 가지에 털이 없으며 다소 능선이 지며 자갈색이고

가시는 단순하거나 3개로 갈라지며 길이 0.5-1cm이다.

 

 

 

과실은 장과로서 길이가 약 1cm 정도이며 타원형 또는 장타원형이고 9월에 붉게 익는다.

꽃은 양성화로서 꽃잎은 6개이다.  4~5월에 피며 잎겨드랑에에서 아래로 늘어지고

노란색이지만 표면은 붉은 빛이 돌며 짧은 가지 액생하는산형화서에 2~4개의 꽃이 달린다.

 

잎은 어린 가지에서 호생하고 짧은 가지에서는 총생하며 도피침형이고 길이 2~4cm로서

표면은 녹색이며 뒷면은 회록색이고 가장자리가 밋밋하다.
