왕매발톱나무(매자나무과)

해안 절벽에는 온통 왕매발톱나무 꽃으로 노랗게 장식이 되어 있다.

높은 곳에 자리 잡고 있으니 접근이 쉽지가 않다.

가던 길을 되돌아 와서 철책을 넘어서 겨우 접근하여 원하던 왕매발톱나무 꽃을 취할 수 있었다.

 

매발톱나무에 비하여 대형으로 잎이 둥글어서 품종으로 분류되어 있으나 넓게 매발톱나무에 통합하여 보는 견해도 있다

제주도에 분포하는 섬매발톱나무는 가시가 매발톱나무보다 가시가 더 길고 화서가 소형인 점에서 매발톱나무의 변종으로 분류하지만
