섬현삼(현삼과 현삼속) Scrophularia takesimensis Nakai

해안도로를 따라 느릿느릿 달리다 보면 길 옆에 꽤 많이 보인다.

길을 넓히느라고 몇 군데 큰 무리가 있던 곳이 사라진 게 좀 아쉽긴 하다.

 

울릉도 특산식물로 줄기 끝에 정생하는 원추화서에 많은 꽃이 달리며 화서는 원줄기 끝에서 발달하고 소화경에 선모가 있다. 꽃받침 열편이 서로 조금씩 포개어지고 열편 가장자리가 막질성을 띠며, 끝이 둥글고 전체적으로 넓은 난형을 이루고 있다. 

 

잎자루과 줄기에는 날개랄 것 까지는 아니고 얕은 날개 비슷한 모양을 하고 있는데

잎자루 기부가 귀처럼 넓어져서 줄기를 싸고 있다.

 

줄기는 4면으로 이루어져 있는데 납작한 면과 패인 면이 서로 마주하고 있고

이것도 마디마다 지그재그로 어긋나게 되어 있다. 

패인 면은 돌출한 2개의 능선이 있는데 아마 줄기에 날개가 있다는 게 바로 이를 두고 지칭하는 것 같다.

잎자루 기부와 연결되어 줄기 아래로 이어지는 연두색 능선이 바로 날개라는 것이다.
