굽이쳐 흐르는 강 가에 서 있는 정자와 함께 겨자색 봄 빛이 아름다운 곳이다.
이 녀석을 보자는 건 아니었지만 지나는 길에 이 녀석 자생지가 있어서 들렀다.
늘 제주도에서 만나 왔기에 일부러 이 녀석 때문에 남쪽으로 내려 온 적이 없었기에 장소는 참 생소한 곳이었다.
개화한 지 한참 지나서 꽃대가 길게 늘어져서 볼품이 좀 없었지만 육지에서 처음 만나는 녀석이라 한참 눈을 맞추었다
헌데 이 녀석을 최근 남바람꽃이라 불러야 한다는 견해의 글이 퍼지면서
남바람으로들 부르기 시작하였지만 국명의 어원을 찾아서 추적해 본 결과 최초 발견자인
박만규박사가 '한국쌍자엽식물지'(1974)에 남방바람꽃으로 마지막으로 발표한 글이 확인이 되었다
헌데 최근 타계하신 모 식물박사님이
박만규 박사가 1942년 조선식물학회잡지 제9권 제35호에 기고한 글을 근거로 남바람꽃으로 불러야 한다는 견해를 제기하였는데 그 시절 박만규 박사는 분명 <일본어>로 글을 기고하였는데
모 박사님이 근거로 들고 있는1942년의 <한국어>로 쓴 글이란 건 박만규박사의 글이 번역된 것으로 보인다.
그러니까 누군가 박만규 박사의 글을 한국어로 번역해 옮길 때 <남바람꽃>으로 기록하지 않았을까 추정이 된다.
또 다른 사실 하나. 타계하신 식물학자님의 의견에 따른 것인지는 모르겠지만
자생식물 및 산림유전자원보호구역 관리요령」산림청 예규 제588호(2010.11.01)에 남바람꽃 Anemone flaccida F.Schmidt
으로 고시되어 Nature에 남바람꽃으로 적용이 되고 있다는 사실도 확인 되었다
뭐 국명이란 게 견해에 따라 여러가지 국명이 나올 수도 있고 부르기에 거시기한 표현의 국명을 수정하기도 하지만
그래도 최초 발견자인 박만규 박사가 '한국쌍자엽식물지'(1974)에 마지막으로 발표한 남방바람꽃으로 불러줘야 하지 않을까 한다
