개가시나무(참나무과 가시나무속)

가시나무속의 녀석들은 남부지역의 상록수이다.

종가시나무나 가시나무가 대구나 구미의 수목원에서 잘 견디고 있는 걸 본 적이 있는데

아마도 기후 온난화로 남부 지역의 수종들이 점점 북상하여 적응하고 있는 것으로 이해가 된다.

 

몇 년 전에 전남 지역 모처에서 참가시나무 군락을 발견했다는 기사를 본 적이 잇다.

붉가시나무나 종가시나무는 아주 흔하게 보이지만 참가시나무, 가시나무 개가시나무 등은 흔하게 보이지 않는다.

 

자생의 개가시나무는 안덕의 곶자왈에서 보곤 하는데 어제 (11. 25) 발로 제주의 여러 곶자왈에 서식하고 있는 개가시나무가 680그루라고

마치 개가시나무 서식이 처음 알려지는 것처럼 요란하게 인터넷 판 일간지에 기사가 떴다.

국립산림과학관에서 진행한 프로젝트였던 모양인데 엄청 대단한 식물인 듯 기사 타이틀도 거창하다.

 

몇 몇 환경부 소속 기관에서는 프로젝트 결과에 대한 내용을 이렇게 실적을 홍보를 하는데

기사 내용을 보면 많이 과장되어 엄청 대단한 것처럼 기사화 된다.

개가시나무는 잎이 작고 표면이 광택이 있으며 어린 가지와 잎 뒷면에 황갈색 보드러운 털이 밀생하는 털보로 멸종위기 식물로 지정되어 있다
