드뎌 지리고들빼기 녀석을 만났다
야생화 사이트 전국 정모에 갔다가 목적지 까지 올라 가지 못하고 후퇴를 했다.
변화 없는 임도를 따라 이동하는 거리가 4km 정도로 먼 길인데다가 몇 종 이외에는 더 이상 나타나지 않았고
여름동안 퍼진 내 체력이 뒷받쳐 주지 못했기 때문이다

그래도 이번 정모에서 지리고들빼기를 만나는 소득이 있었다.
아직까지 까치고들빼기만 봐왔던 터라 도대체 지리고들빼기의 엽축 날개가 얼마나 분명하기에 구분포인트가 되는지 무~~지 궁거웠더랬다.
헌데 올해도 지리를 만나지 못하고 해를 넘기는가 했는데 정모팀 선두가 앞서 간지도 한참 뒤
후미에 어슬렁 거리면서 몇 분들과 올라가는데 덩치가 크고 엽축에 날개가 있는 녀석이 길섶에 비스듬하게 나타났다.
"우와~!!! 지리다~!!"
내 고함소리에 뭐 특별한 건가 싶어서 몇 분이 모여들었다가 겨우 볼품 없는 고들빼기 한 종류란 걸 알고는 그냥 지나친다.
"지리가 맞나요?"
나와 죽이 잘 맞는 꽃동무가 함께 들여다 보면서 혹시 까치가 아닌가 싶어서 의심을 한다
적어도 70~80cm 정도 크기에다가 엽축의 날개가 확실하니 지리고들빼기라 생각이 든다며 요리 보고 조리 보고 담았다.
도감에는 지리나 까치나 소화가 5~6개로 기재되어 있는데
이 녀석은 소화(설상화) 수가 6개 정도 되어 보인다.
위쪽 줄기 끝부분의 잎에도 엽축의 날개가 확실하고
줄기 중간 쯤의 잎에도 중축의 날개가 잘 발달되어 있다
잎의 크기를 재어 보려고 딴 잎이 하필 엽축 날개가 잘 나타나지 않는 녀석을 땄다
까치나 지리나 잎자루 기부가 줄기를 감싸는데 마치 나비 모양의 탁엽이 발달한 것 처럼 보인다
비스듬하게 누워 있는 전초의 크기를 보려고 담았는데 잘 드러나지가 않는다.
줄기의 굵기가 대단하였다.
옆에는 까치고들빼기도 함께 보였는데 까치고들빼기는 중축이 깔끔하게 가늘고
열편 기부가 잎자루처럼 보일 정도로 가늘어서 지리와 비교가 된다.
아래 녀석 오른쪽 발치 쯤에 이고들빼기 녀석 하나가 끼어 들어 담겨졌다
이고들빼기는 까치나 지리보다 설상화 수가 꽤 많은 편이다
헌데 지리고들빼기에 대한 도감의 기재 내용 중에
<<지리고들빼기는 까치고들빼기와 고들빼기의 잡종이라 여겨지는 많은 중간형이 있다>>
라는 점이 좀 의아스럽다.
고들빼기는 봄에 꽃이 피고 인가나 밭 주변에서 주로 서식하고 저지대 산자락에서 볼 수가 있다
헌데 까치고들빼기는 어느 정도 높이가 있는 큰 산 숲 자락에 서식하고 가을에 꽃이 피는데
어떻게 까치고들빼기와 고들빼기의 잡종이 나올 수 있단 말인가?
까치고들빼기가 자라는 곳 주변에는 <이고들빼기>는 흔하게 보이고 가을에 꽃이 피는 시기가 같다.
이 곳에서도 주변에는 이고들빼기도 함께 서식하고 있었다. 그렇다면 <까치>와 <이고들빼기>의 교잡은 가능하다.
아마도 <고들빼기>가 아니라 <이고들빼기>의 잘못된 기록이 아닌가 싶다.
<지리>일까? <까치>일까? 갸웃거릴 정도로 중축의 날개가 얕아서 애매한 녀석이 더러 나타나는데
그런 녀석들이 까치와 이고들빼기의 다양한 교잡종일거라는 추정을 하게 한다
두 번째로 만난 녀석은 먼저 만난 녀석보다 설상화가 더 많은 녀석으로 엽축의 날개도 더 두꺼운 형이었다.
이 녀석은 설상화 수가 많은 꽃이 이고들빼기 쪽에 더 가깝다고 볼 수 있을 것 같다.
9월 10일 설악산에서 만났던 녀석은
잎이 깊게 갈라져서 지리고들빼기가 아닐까 반가워 했던 녀석인데 잎자루 기부가 줄기를 감싸지 않고 있었다.
주변에는 이고들빼기와 까치고들빼기가 한창 꽃을 피우고 있었더랬다. 그 녀석도 결국 중간 잡종이었을 거라 생각이 든다
