덩굴모밀(마디풀과 여뀌속) Persicaria chinensis (L.) H.Gross

육지에는 이미 산천이 푸른 색을 잃은 지 한참이라

상록수 열매도 보고 꽃자리 이삭 줍기나 할 요량으로 올해 마지막으로 제주에 내려 왔다.

 

서귀포 쪽 해안은 아직도 가을이다. 해안 주변으로 들어가는데 덩굴모밀이 밭을 이루고 있다. 참 신기한 녀석이다.

야생화사이트에 올라오는 이 녀석을 처음 봤을 때 원예종인 줄 알고 있었는데.

우리 나라에서는 제주에만 자생하는 멸종위기 식물이다.

 

올 가을에서야 이 녀석이 제주에 자생하고 있는 걸 알긴 했는데 우째 만날 기회를 얻지 못하여 궁겁더니

생각지도 않다가 만나니 더 반갑다. 꽃과 잎은 여뀌 종류를 닮았다. 하기사 마디풀과 덩굴식물이니 그렇기도 하겠다.

 

  

꽃은 흰색으로, 가지 끝에 우산 모양으로 모여 달리며, 꽃받침은 5장, 꽃잎은 없다. 수술은 8개, 꽃받침보다 짧고, 꽃밥은 검은 자주색, 수술대 밑에 밀생한다. 암술은 1개이며, 긴 타원형의 씨방 위에 암술대가 3갈래이다

 

 

 

열매는 수과로 검은색이고 능선이 3개 있으며 숙존 꽃받침에 싸인다.

 

  

 

 

잎은 호생하며, 난형이고, 끝이 뾰족하며, 가장자리에 톱니가 없다. 턱잎은 통 모양이고, 막질이다.

 

 

줄기는 둥글고, 옆으로 뻗으며 가지를 친다.
