이 곳은 가을에 꽃쟁이들이 즐겨 찾는 이유가 동래엉겅퀴에도 있다.
벼가 노랗게 익고 있는 논을 배경으로 보라색 동래엉겅퀴가 참 잘 어울린다.
논둑의 풀을 베면서 엉겅퀴를 남겨 놓은 논 주인께 감사를 드린다.
늘 별 생각 없이 엉겅퀴를 들여다 보았는데 작년 이상한 점을 발견하였다.
잎에 결각이 있는 것과 버들잎엉겅퀴로 생각할 수 있는 결각이 전혀 없는 두 종류가 있다는 것이다.
이 두 종류가 논둑에 한데 섞여 자생하고 있는데 다른 종으로 봐야 할지, 아니면 같은 종으로 봐야 할지...
나는 단지 의문만 제기한다. 판단은 분류학자들이 할 일이다.
1. 동래엉겅퀴 잎에 결각이 심한 개체이다.
