물엉겅퀴(국화과 엉겅퀴속) Cirsium nipponicum (Maxim.) Makino

울릉도 둘째 날 독도 일정에서 벗어나서 나리분지에 가기 위해서 혼자 움직였다.

숙소 근처에 엉겅퀴를 닮은 장대한 크기의 녀석이 보라색 꽃을 피어 있다. 물엉겅퀴라 한다.

 

몇 장을 담고 버스를 기다리는데 농업기술센터까지 태워주겠다는 고마운 현지 분을 만났다.  

미국에서 살다가 들어와서 울릉도 자연에 반해서 눌러 앉았다는 그 분은 임성규라 이름을 알려 주었는데

나비의 섬이란 소설을 곧 탈고할 예정이라 한다.

 

 

정선의 고려엉겅퀴처럼 울릉도에서는 이 물엉겅퀴 어린 싹을 나물로 이용하는데

나리분지에서는 물엉겅퀴를 밭에 재배를 하는 모습도 보였다

 

꽃은 8~11월에 피며 자주색이고 두상화는 지름 2.5~3cm로서 꽃이 필 때 처지며 화경이 있다.

화관은 길이 16~20mm이다.

 

 

총포는 종형이고 밑부분이 들어가며 거미줄같은 털이 있는 것도 있고 흔히 자줏빛이 돌며

포편은 7줄로 배열되고 외편과 중편은 피침형으로서 끝이 길게 좁아져서 가시로 끝나며 가장자리가 밋밋하고 퍼지거나 젖혀진다.

 

 

수과는 길이 3~3.5mm로서 네모가 지고 관모는 길이 13~15mm로서 오갈색이다.

높이 1-2m이고 골이 파진 능선이 있으며 자줏빛이 돌고 거미줄같은 털이 있거나 없다.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 근생엽은 개화시에는 없어지며 중앙부의 잎은 피침상 타원형이고 끝이 뾰족하며 밑부분이 엽병으로 흘러서 날개로 되지만 원줄기를 감싸거나 밑으로 흐르지 않고 길이 20~30cm로서 양면에 털이 다소 있는 것도 있으며 가장자리가 대개 밋밋하고 치아상 또는 결각상으로 갈라지며 끝에 길이 1~2mm의 가시가 있고 때로는 5~6쌍의 우상으로 갈라진다.
