원고를 쓰디가 폴더를 뒤지는 중에 정리하지 않은 녀석을 발견하였다.
오래 전 제주도에서 담아 두었던 엉겅퀴속이다.
제주의 초지에서 피어나는 이 녀석을 가시엉겅퀴로 봐야 할지 그냥 엉겅퀴로 봐야 할지 좀 애매하여 정리하지 않은 것 같다.
이 녀석은 1100 습지 주변이나 산록 도로변의 가시엉겅퀴와는 좀 다른 모습을 하고 있다.
초지의 이 녀석은 가시엉겅퀴에 비하여 줄기의 털도 적고 엽폭이 좁고 잎의 가시도 약하다.
육지의 엉겅퀴에 비하여는 잎의 열편이 깊게 갈라지고 열편의 가시가 길고 총포편 끝이 짧게 뾰족한 개엉겅퀴로 정리한다
