한국속식물지, 이우철의 '한국원색기준식물도감', 한반도생물다양성 포털에는 <가새잎꼬리풀>이 국명으로

<큰구와꼬리풀>이 이명으로 등록되어 있다(한반도생물자원포털에는 이명으로 등록되었다가 지금은 이명이 삭제되었다.)

올해 공지된 국가표준식물목록에는 큰구와꼬리풀이 추천 국명으로, 가새잎꼬리풀은 이명으로 등록되어 있다.

 

구와꼴풀 : Pseudolysimachion dauricum (Steven) Holub 

큰구와꼬리풀(가새잎꼬리풀) Pseudolysimachion pyrethrinum (Nakai) T.Yamaz.

 

<큰>이란 접두어는 이름 그대로 꽃이나 전초 등의 크기에서 크다는 느낌이 있어야 한다

헌데 <큰>구와꼬리풀은 구와꼬리풀에 비하여 크다는 느낌이 없다.

차이점이라고는 꽃색이 더 푸른 자색을 띠는 것과 화관이 짧고 삭과가 작으며 잎이 매우 깊게 갈라진다는 것이다.

화관은 오히려 구와꼬리풀이 더 길다.

 

<가새>는 잎이 깊게 갈라지는 모습이 가새(가위)를 닮았다고 하여 붙는 접두어이다.

'가새쑥부쟁이'  '가새곰취' '가새덜꿩나무' 등의 잎은 동속 근연종에 비하여 완전히 깊게 심열하는 형태이다.

 

그러니 이 녀석은 <큰>보다는 <가새>가 더 어울리는 국명이다.

그래서 한국속식물지와 한반도생물다양성 포털,  '한국원색기준식물도감의 국명을 따라 가새잎꼬리풀로 정리한다. 

 

2020년에 보이던 낮은 바위벽 위에 있던 무더기가 모두 사라지고 흔적도 없다

주변 바위를 뒤져서 겨우 찾아낸 게 높은 곳에 있던 이 녀석 한 포기이다.
