문모초(현삼과 개불알풀속)

 강가, 냇가, 경작지 주변 습한 곳에 자라는 한해 또는 두해살이풀이다.

 꽃은 4~5월에 피는데 잎겨드랑이에서 1개씩 달린다. 

꽃자루 길이 1mm, 꽃받침은 길이 3.5~4.5mm, 4갈래로 갈라지며, 꽃받침조각은 좁은 피침형으로 끝은 둔하다.

꽃부리는 연분홍색 또는 흰색이다.

밑부분에서 가지가 많이 갈라지며, 약간 육질이다. 

줄기 아래쪽 잎은 마주나고 위쪽 잎은 어긋난다. 잎자루는 없다
