울릉도와 남쪽해안 도서지역에 서식을 하는 녀석은
열매에 만화 캐릭터 속의 주인공 얼굴같은 무늬가 있어 재미 있는 녀석이다
암수딴그루인 이 녀석은 지름 6-8mm의 열매는 흑록색으로 성숙하고 상반부에 1개의 횡선이 있으며 종자는 길이 4mm정도이다
잎은 호생하며 양면에 다세포로 된 백색털이 있으나 곧 없어지고 소엽은 보통 5개이지만 3-7개인 것도 있으며
정소엽은 소엽병과 더불어 길이 4-8cm, 폭 2-3cm로서 끝이 뾰족하며 표면 맥위에 잔털이 있고 가장자리에 톱니가 있다.
