망개나무(갈매나무과) 열매

숨 막히는 폭염에 갈까 말까 하다가 동문 체육대회를 마치고 집에 가는 길에 임도를 걸었다.

벌써 농익은 녀석들은 떨어지고 있는 중이었다.

 

어린 풋열매는 담은 적이 있지만 이렇게 잘 익은 망개나무 열매를 담긴 첨이다. 

더 있다가는 또 열매 담는 걸 놓칠 것 같아서 들렀더니 땀 범벅이 되었지만 붉은 열매를 담을 수 있어서 만족스럽다.

 

이 녀석은 서식지가 제한 적으로 경상북도와 충청북도의 표고 400m 이하에서 자란다.

 

열매는 마악 달린 대추 열매만큼 작았는데 길이가 7~8mm 정도의 좁고 긴 타원형으로 노란색을 띠다가 이렇게 붉게 익는다

 

 

 

가지는 가늘고 적갈색을 띠고 작은 피목이 퍼져 있으며 수피는 세로로 잘게 갈라진다
