각시수련(수련과 수련속) Nymphaea tetragona var. minima (Nakai) W. T. Lee

언젠가 늦은 시각에 녀석을 찾았을 때는 이미 꽃잎을 접고 잠을 잘 준비를 하고 있었다.

수련은 잠을 자는 연이란 뜻으로 밤에는 물 속으로 들어 갔다가 다음 날 깨어서 꽃을 피운다는 건데 대부분은 오전 중에 꽃잎을 펼친다

 

헌데 이 각시는 잠꾸러기라서 오후 2시까지도 잠을 자느라고 꽃잎 여는 것을 게을리 한다.

그래서 2시~4시 사이에 찾아야 각시와 데이트를 할 수가 있다.

 

 

 꽃은 6-7월에 피고 백색이며 지름 5cm정도로서 꽃은 3일 동안 피었다 닫혔다 한다.

꽃받침잎은 4개이고 긴 타원형이며 길이 3-3.5cm, 밑부분의 폭 1-1.5cm로서 둔두이고 녹색이며 꽃잎은 8-15개이다.
