각시수련(수련과 수련속) Nymphaea tetragona var. minima (Nakai) W. T. Lee

멀기도 하다. 꽃과 눈 맞춘 시간 보다 오가는 길에 버린 시간이 몇 배나 많다.

각시수련 보러 가지 않겠냐는 꽃동무의 메세지에 두 시간을 달려서 합류하고도 세시간을 달린 거리다.

오후 2시 30분 쯤 도착한 이 물통에는 자그마한 각시 수련이 활짝 펴서 멀리서 간 꽃손님을 반겨 준다.

 

아침에 펴서 오후에 접는 수련에 비하여 이 녀석은 오후에 핀다고 한다.

가을에 잦은 비로 물통에는 물이 한 가득하였지만 미리 준비한 발목 장화 덕분에 그래도 가까이 잡을 수 있었다.

몇 종류의 습지 식물들이 있을 거라 하였지만 물이 너무 차서 잠겨 버렸는지 보이는 녀석들이 없다. 

 

두 시간이 넘도록 각시한테 빠져서 정신줄 놓고 놀았다.

 

 

 

꽃은 9월 까지도 피고 있었다. 수련 중에서 가장 작은 꽃을 피운다. 꽃은 3일 동안 피었다 닫혔다 한다.

꽃받침잎은 4개이고 긴 타원형이며 길이 3-3.5cm, 밑부분의 폭 1-1.5cm로서 둔두이고 녹색이며 꽃잎은 8-15개이다.

멸종위기종 특산식물이다.

 

 

 

 

 

잎은 뿌리에서 나오고 옆병이 길며 난상 원형 또는 난상 타원형이고 원형이며 밑부분은 화살모양이고

약간 떨어지거나 양쪽 가장자리가 거의 닿으며, 길이 5-12cm, 폭 8-15cm로서 가장자리가 밋밋하다.

잎끝에서 잎저까지의 길이가 1.8-5.5cm이고 폭 1.6-4.3cm이다.

 

 

 

작은 것은 500원짜리 동전보다 조금 크기도 하고 조금 큰 것은 쵸코파이 정도 크기였다.

 

 

큰 녀석이 미국수련이고 작은 것이 각시 수련이다.
