이 곳에 자주와 보지만 그냥 뭐 아그배나무일거라 생각하고 매번 스쳐지나기만 했었다.
함께 했던 꽃동무가 제주아그배란 녀석이 제주에 자생한다고 하는데 이 녀석이 아마 제주아그배일 것 같다고 한다.
1100고지의 바람 센 중산간 지역에서 자라서 그런지는 몰라도 잎이 자잘하고 가지 마디도 짧다.
헌데 국생종의 목록에는 제주아그배나무가 따로 분류되어 있지 않다.
개아그배나무가 있는데 그 녀석이 제주아그배나무란 다른 이름을 가지고 있다.
그러면 이 녀석이 개아그배나무일 가능성이 크다. 개아그배가 주로 제주도에서 자란다고 한다.
긴 가지의 잎은 3개로 갈라짐이 뚜렷한 녀석들도 있고, 결각성 거치도 많은 특징이 보인다.
잎 길이 7-11cm, 폭2.5-4.5cm로서 표면은 짙은 녹색이다. 엽병은 길이 1.5-4cm로서 털이 약간 있고 탁엽은 작으며 일찍 떨어진다.
열매는 9월에 황색바탕에 연한 홍색이 돌고 1-7개씩 달리며 지름 15mm정도로서
기부가 우묵하게 들어가지만 끝이 둥글고 꽃받침이 달려 있는 것이 많다.
