제주에는 귀화식물이 참 많다. 외국인들이 드나드는 관광지이기도 하고
해류를 타고 들어 오는 식물 종자들이 토착화 되는 경우가 많기 때문이다.
이 녀석 냄새냉이도 들어온지 그리 오래되지 않은 녀석인데 길가 공터나 밭자락에는 지천으로 깔려 있다.
바닥에 납작하게 붙어서 줄기가 퍼지는데 밟히거나 개체에 상채기가 나면 특이한 냄새가 나는 녀석으로
꽃이랄 것도 없는 꽃이 피고 납작한 쌍방울 열매가 달린다.
잎은 어긋나기이며, 근생엽은 선상 장타원형으로 1-2회 우상복엽으로 옆의 열편이 4-6쌍이다.
줄기는 아래쪽에서 부터 분지하고 백색 연모가 있다
열매는 1쌍의 공을 붙여 놓은 모양이며 끝이 요두, 기부는 요저이고 열매조각은 편구형으로 높이 1.5㎜, 폭 2.5㎜이며
그물 모양으로 주름이 졌고, 2-3㎜의 열매 자루가 있다.
